CVS Evaluation
1) what were you asked to do?
My group and I were asked to film and create a promotional video for the Redbridge Disabled Women's Welfare Association (RDWWA). We had to film them talking about why they set up the charity, how longer they have been helping for, and other questions that will inform people watching the video what they do to help these women and what they have achieved.
2) What was the purpose of the video?
The purpose of this video was to promote the amazing work that both Aqida and Rosina do for the charity. We have footage of them when they went to Clacton-on-sea which sows us what they do there.
3) What did you do in each production stage?
- Pre-production
Planning consisted of emailing Aqida and Rosina who run the RDWWA charity to arrange when we could film, but getting a reply wasn't as easy as we thought so we were rushing to get a day to film and the other group tagged alone with us to make it easier so they too could film for their video.
-Production
When filming i was the only one in my group. Whilst filming it was mainly Hollie who asked the questions as he she had them written down. The ladies also showed us people she had met from doing this such as people like the queen.
- Post-production
Editing took longer than expected because there was so much to edit and people kept disagreeing one things which made it harder to complete it. When we had finished editing it was worth it because the result was really good.
4) What problems did you encounter and how did you solve them?
The person who came up with the questions to ask didn't turn up so both my group and the other group used each others footage so we had the best turn out. For the filming three people in in our group didn't show up for the day of filming so i joined the other group researching this charity. When editing one person did most of the work as the others were disagreeing to much so we put one person in charge of what the outcome should look like and every so often we would check that it looked okay and we were all happy with it.
5) What were your strengths and weaknesses in each stage?
For pre-production we needed to contact the lady who runs the charity but it took us ages to get hold of her and ask if we can meet her to film. Eventually we got a reply from her saying we could go film the weekend but most people in the group couldn't do the weekend so it was left to me to go and film with the other group. We did come up with good questions to ask that wouldn't just be short answers.
For production i went to film but i didn't use shot reverse shot as the space i had was limited so we agreed to use each others work so we would have things like shot reverse shot.
For post-production I personally didn't do much because i was away but when i did help where the group were just cutting bits of the film that i filmed they were adding it to the final bit before thinking about whether it would look good or not so i had to take out a lot of stuff we didn't need.
6) what is your overall opinion on the final production?
The overall outcome was better than i thought, this is due to the fact that people were disagreeing on certain things. I am very happy that the video is complete i think if we did it again i would make it longer and add in more footage from the events and added back group music all the way through and faded it out when people were talking, this would just make it a little more continuous.

Culture day photo story
The first Autumn leaf of many! |
I started my journey by looking out the window to see what the weather was like, I didn't like what i saw. Not only was it depressing but i couldn't see very far into the distance. |

Walking along the road to the bus stop i could see fallen leaves. The further i walked and the more fallen leaves I saw I thought to myself 'Autumn is here'. |
On the church roof near my house there were these starlings chirping their own little song which was really nice to hear as i walked past. |
the more i walked the fog seemed to disappear but i liked the view of the park as it looked so peaceful. |
This is another sign that autumn is here for good. The leaves turn brown and float gently to the ground, leaving it full of crunchy rustling footsteps. |
I then did some shopping for my cousin, plus this gave me a great excuse to play with all the kids toys they had. |
I was planning on buying this for my cousin but then i thought id enjoy it more and added it to my Christmas list. |
I am a massive fan of the Lego Heroes and plan on collecting it. This is one if many that i have. |
When i was a little bit younger i used to play with sylvanian families and after about three years they are still selling the first sylvanian house I bought. |
The train i got to meet my friends and then we went to Westfield and spent the rest of the day there. |
While in Westfield there was a town made out of cake and i thought it looked amazing. |
This was just part of the town, my favorite part was the trees i like the colour contrast, the pink on the brown made the little flowers stand out more. |
I took this on the second floor, this is probably the best shop in westfield. The colour of the Lego sign stands out so you know what shop it is a couple of shops away from it. |
On my way home this flower was the only one on the bush and it looked really pretty, the shade of yellow stands out amongst the green leaves. |
I took this picture of the fathers house on my road because the door in the background and the wall and hedge either side the gate looked symmetrical. |
The dew on the grass looked really sparkly and eye catching. Although this picture doesn't do it justice. |

Photography composition
Task 1: Portrait and Landscape
Task 2: The rule of thirds
Task 2 is taking a photo but using the rule of thirds. When taking it of a person you need to make sure that their eyes are 1/3 of the way down the screen, but when you take a picture of scenery you need to make sure that the 1/3 down line is on the line where the sky meets the land.
People are attracted to symmetrical objects because of the equlity and it interests the human eye.
For the first task we had to take four pictures, 2 portrait and 2 landscape. Portrait is when you hold your camera on its side, you would use portrait to take pictures of people. Landscape is when you hold your camera up the correct way, this is used to take pictures of landscape and buildings.
Both of the pictures are portatait, portrait teds to be pixctures of people, no part of there body has been cut off.
These two pictures are Landscape as the camera was held the correct way up. These are to take pictures on a larger scale.
Task 2 is taking a photo but using the rule of thirds. When taking it of a person you need to make sure that their eyes are 1/3 of the way down the screen, but when you take a picture of scenery you need to make sure that the 1/3 down line is on the line where the sky meets the land.
When taking pictures of the land you make sure the 1/3 line is on the line where the land meets the sky, for a person there eyes are on the 1/3line and for a builing the 1/3line is at the top of the building.
Task 3: Diagonal
When taking certain pictures if you tilt your camera slightly you can make the object look more interesting.
For these pictures they look a more interesting at a diagonal tilt, this makes them look different.
Task 4: SymmetryPeople are attracted to symmetrical objects because of the equlity and it interests the human eye.
Pictures that are symectrical attract the human eye, as these doors are a mirror image of each other.
Task 5: Balancing elements
Having somthing bigger at the front of the picture makes it look intreging and exciting to the eye.
Thjis picture is of the corridor but infront on it it has a blue box, this draws peoples attention to both the box and corridor.

Continuity editing exercise
What scenario were you asked to work to?
We were asked to create a shot film where someone would enter a room sit (or stand) opposite someone and have a small conversation about anything you want.
Our idea is a date gone wrong the girl is trying to kidnap the boy, but the annoying friend gets involved and the plan starts to crumble the girl gets a phone call and she is told to return home she refuses and gets angry, the boy begins to worry resulting in him leaving before she has a chance to kidnap him.
What were the key media language skills you were tying to demonstrate?
In the film we made we had to make sure we had the 180 degree rule,the rule of thirds and match on action. The 180 degree rule when you have an imaginary line running through the people your filming and you cant cross that line otherwise it will look like the people on camera are moving when there not. The rule of thirds is then the peoples eyes are on 1/3 of the way down the screen. This is used in filming and photography, this just makes whatever your filming look better. And lastly match on action is when you film something and you carry it through to the next shot, for example when you walk through a door you would have them walking up to and opening the door and then in the next shot you would have them walking through the door.
Who did you work with to plan your film?
At first our group consisted of one other person; Nisha, but half way through story boarding Aarun joined our group, and helped complete our storyboard and added to the story. This helped use to create something unique as e wasnt here from the start and had a fresh look on things.
How successful was this grouping?
We all worked together really well, and got on with the task allocated I normally find it hard working with people im not used to talking to but it was easier than i thought.
How did you use your creativity to develop the scenario?
The scenario w thought of was my original idea, but we decided to change some of the story line because it didn't sound right so we used Nisha's and Aaruns idea.
How useful was your storyboard? What did you change and what did you stick to?
The storyboard was very useful as we knew what we were doing and even though we changed some of the shots it was good knowing that if we forgot what we were meant tot be doing we had it on paper, the pictures also made it quicker to see what we were doing as we didnt have to read it; the pictures were self explanatory. the only thing we changed was the characters and we got rid of one of the shots (from the original storyboard) which in my opinion made the film confusing as it didnt give you the feeling of kidnapping but just a weird and rude conversation.

Edit workshop evaluation
How did you use 180 degree rule, rule of thirds, and match on action?

For match on action i used someone walking up to the door,opening the door and then walking through and having them walk in to the room. we thought this looked good as we have the continuity of the shot and watching them walk to meet the man. We used the rule of thirds to make everyone in the shot look in proportion. by doing this no one looks really short or out of shot. For the 180 degree rule we used this to keep the people in the shot in one place rather than it looking like they keep jumping from one side to another. To create this we needed to keep it on the left side of two people and the right for one, this created the impression that you were standing next to them.
What challenges did you face during production? and what would you change if you were to film again?
Through out filming we were faced with several different problems, the main problem was trying to find some to play the role of the Friend, we had to make sure that they were the right height to look the correct standing next to someone tall. once we found someone it was making sure that they wore the same clothes on both filming days otherwise the film wouldn't have been consistent. If we could film again i would make sure to think about who we could use whilst planning rather than when we start filming. I would also make sure you pick the correct location so when we film we wont have to move and start again due to the lack of space.

My Media Summer
Films
Over the summer holidays i wasn't really that interested in films however when Indiana Jones and the temple of doom was on i just had to watch it, so there i was watching Indiana Jones save Willy Scott i thought to myself how amazing it would be to live in your own action packed film with all the brilliant stunts, and different locations.
Another of my favourite films is Beauty and the Beast I've always liked it because of all the emotion and how funny it is, but since watching it as a 16 year old i understand the plot better and i would even say i enjoy the film more as i have a better understanding of it.
Songs
I'm not normally that into popular music but when my mum insists on playing Capital FM at 7AM i cant help but wake up singing Cheryl Cole Under the sun. So at this moment in time it is my most enjoyed song on Capital FM, this is because i can relate to the lyrics.
Most people my age don't really listen to old music but as both my mum and dad used to listen to it i still enjoy hearing it, for example i liked listening to UB40 Red red wine, i like the way it is sung and the lyrics are meaningful. I personally think older music is better as songs today don't make much sense.
TV/Radio programs
I spend half my life watching TV and during the holiday i didn't get to watch a lot of it, but when i did get to watch it i enjoyed watching Holby City and Casualty, both programs are set in the same hospital just different floors. The main reason i like watching this is because i know it isn't real and i find the content funny and there is usually different patients but they seem to fit in somewhere.
I also enjoyed watching Young Dracular, now even though this is on CBBC and aimed at 7-11's i still find it entertaining, i enjoy all vampire things and as Young Dracular is a family of vampires living undercover in a school (as much as i would love that to be the case with my school) the drama that goes on with vlad becoming the chosen one and his older sister, Ingrid wishing she had all the power.

Throughout the holidays i didn't really get a chance to go on the internet but when i did i mostly just stayed on youtube watching my favorite youtubers, i also spent a lot of time trying to find a job, for me getting a job was one of the most important things as it is a sign of independence. I watch people on youtube because i hope that one day i too could make youtube video's, the people i watch on youtube aren't like me which is what i like it gives me a chance to see how other people are around the UK

I don't enjoy watching the news as it is always filmed with sad, depressing stories. I was obsessed with the GCSE results as i was affected by them, i was so disheartened by it as i worked so hard and when i found out that they weren't going to do anything about it i wanted to know why, but i didn't get any answer.
I also hated hearing about Tia Sharpe as i couldn't believe that she went missing and what shocked me the most was how we didn't even see or hear from her mum until she was found dead. How could anyone kill their own granddaughter. The more i hear about kidnappings and stabbings the more i worry about the world.
