Edit workshop evaluation

How did you use 180 degree rule, rule of thirds, and match on action?
For match on action i used someone walking up to the door, opening the door and then walking through and having them walk in to the room.  we thought this looked good as we have the continuity of the shot and watching them walk to meet the man.  We used the rule of thirds to make everyone in the shot look in proportion. by doing this no one looks really short or out of shot.  For the 180 degree rule we used this to keep the people in the shot in one place rather than it looking like they keep jumping from one side to another.  To create this we needed to keep it on the left side of two people and the right for one, this created the impression that you were standing next to them.

What challenges did you face during production? and what would you change if you were to film again?
Through out filming we were faced with several different problems, the main problem was trying to find some to play the role of the Friend, we had to make sure that they were the right height to look the correct standing next to someone tall.  once we found someone it was making sure that they wore the same clothes on both filming days otherwise the film wouldn't have been consistent.  If we could film again i would make sure to think about who we could use whilst planning rather than when we start filming.  I would also make sure you pick the correct location so when we film we wont have to move and start again due to the lack of space.

What challenges did you face during post-production? and what would you change if you were to film again?
The first time we incorrectly filmed the 180 degree rule so this made editing difficult so we had to re film.  after we re filmed editing was much easier however we had different people so i had to edit it from the beginning.  if i were to film again i would defiantly think about how filming can make editing harder if you do the smallest thing incorrectly.
What are the overall strengths of your work? Why? Creativity, planning and research, digital technology, post production
I would say the overall strength is the story line because it is really unique and different.  The filming was good as we manged to get it all done in a short amount of time, and the editing was easy as the shots were correct and meant we didnt need to re film or do anything special to make it look like it made sense.
What are the overall weaknesses of your work? Why? Creativity, planning and research, digital technology, post production
I believe the weaknesses of this is the filming as it doesnt look believable at all, i think the filming could have a different range of camera angles instead of the usual ones and different shot types rather than just one or two.  this will make it look a little more exciting and keep you watching.  in editing  it could have been improved by taking time on the process so it would have been exact and perfect.
What overall improvements would you make to your work? Why?
If i could improve any part of my work i would make the acting look more realistic as at the moment it doest look real it looks like 3 people messing around. i would also change one of the actors as they didn't take it to seriously which made filming really hard.
